Which Melcourt compost should I choose?
Choose seed compost for sowing and early propagation, multipurpose compost for general potting, and a specialist mix where your plants need it. Acid-loving plants need an appropriate ericaceous mix. Always check the individual productβs guidance.
Whatβs the difference between bark mulch and potting bark?
Decorative bark mulch is generally used on the soil surface around planting. Potting bark is graded for use in growing mixes and can also be used as a pot mulch. Orchid bark is a specialist material for suitable orchids. Choose by the stated application and particle size.
Are the composts peat-free?
Our Melcourt SylvaGrow compost listings identify the peat-free mixes and their intended uses. You can check the composition and any product-specific endorsements on each product page.
How many bags do I need?
For a rectangular area, multiply length in metres Γ width in metres Γ depth in metres Γ 1,000 to get litres. Divide by the bagβs litre capacity and round up. For example, 2m Γ 1m at 5cm deep needs 100 litres. Follow the productβs recommended depth for your project.
When will my order be despatched?
We aim to despatch in-stock orders within 24 hours. Orders placed Friday to Sunday are normally despatched on Monday, excluding bank holidays. Delivery time starts after despatch and depends on the service and postcode.
